How Art and Craft Help Children Improve Their English . By Ishara Kasthuriarachchi (A preschool Teacher) As a preschool teacher, I have seen how art and craft activities can make learning English fun and natural for young children. When children draw, colour, cut, and paste, they not only enjoy creating but also use English without realizing it. Through art, children learn basic vocabulary like colours, shapes, sizes, and action words. While making a craft, they often say words such as red, blue, circle, square, cut, paste, and draw. I encourage them to use simple sentences, like: “I am drawing a flower.” “This is a big circle.” “I like the yellow colour.” These small sentences help them practice speaking in a meaningful way and build their confidence.
